I’m Rachel Minjeong Lee, a fashion designer originally from Seoul, Korea, now based in New York. My journey in art began in elementary school, where I studied fine art and developed a deep appreciation for creative expression. This passion led me to attend an art-focused middle school, where I immersed myself in painting, sculpture, and visual composition.
Growing up with parents who ran their fashion brand, I was surrounded by the rhythms of the fashion world—from fabric sourcing trips to design discussions at the dinner table. Over time, my artistic foundation merged with an interest in textiles, silhouettes, and the transformative power of clothing. This inspired me to shift my focus from fine art to fashion design, leading me to New York to pursue my BFA in Fashion Design with a concentration in Knitwear at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
With a strong technical background in draping, knitting, and patternmaking, I specialize in contemporary womenswear with an emphasis on innovative textile development. I am proficient in industry-standard software, including the Stoll M1 Plus program for knitwear programming, as well as Kaledo Weave and Kaledo Print for designing woven and printed products. My professional experience spans esteemed fashion houses, including Chanel, KIMHEKIM, Danielle Guizio, and Son Jung Wan, where I contributed to runway collections, New York Fashion Week presentations, and brand marketing initiatives.
